"Hodgson destroyed me: he didn't know about football"

There are coaches who players remember fondly and others which they do not Roberto Carlos will never forget Roy Hodgson, but not for the right reasons.
Roberto Carlos had already mentioned the harm Roy Hodgson had done to him. The Brazilian arrived at Inter in 1995 under Massimo Moratti, the sporting director, who went for his signing. And it was the right decision as Carlos performed in his first matches as an Inter player.
But when Roy Hodgson took over, everything changed. "He destroyed me, he made me play in midfield. So I wasn't going to have the opportunity to play for the Brazilian national team and there was Copa America, Roberto Carlos said at the time in comments which 'Marca' has now brought up again.
"The thing is we did not get on badly, it's that he did not know much about football...", Roberto Carlos said.
'Marca' says that Hodgson thought that Roberto Carlos was too ill-disciplined to play on the left flank. The manager decided to put Centofanti there and the Brazilian out of position.
But thanks to that, Roberto Carlos moved to Real Madrid. "I spoke to Moratti and I asked him to let me go. I went to the Bernabeu because of Capello, he is the most important coach of my life," he said a while afterwards.
