On a night where many heaped praise on the captain Harry Kane for his brace which secured England a win in their opeing match of the tournament, midfielder Henderson was also highlighted as a stand out performer by Martin O'Neill, Lee Dixon and Gary Neville.
The Republic of Ireland manager O'Neill felt that the player performed excellently against Tunisia, demonstrating a positional awareness and technically sound performance at the base of a midfield three.
"It's taken him a bit of time but I feel as if his experiences over the past couple of years for Liverpool — particularly playing Champions League football — have given him this confidence now" the Northern Irishman said.
The punditry team all praised the improvement of the former-Sunderland midfielder in recent years, with Lee Dixon believing that he provides a much-needed balance in the centre of the park, with the majority of play going though him.
Former England and Man Utd full-back Gary Neville has been particularly impressed with Henderson's adaptability and work rate over the last few seasons:
"His game's changed so much. Think about four years ago when Liverpool nearly won the league under Brendan Rodgers... he was a box-to-box midfield player and Steven Gerrard was sitting in there.
"Now he has evolved his game, he's matured. He's able to do what Martin's just showed us in terms of sitting back. He wouldn't have been able to do that a few years ago.
"He wants to learn all the time, he works hard, he's conscientious, he's a manager's dream. And tonight — when he was under pressure (from Dier) to win the spot, he looks like he's cemented his spot."
Henderson and his England teammates will face Panama in their next Group G match, before facing one of the tournament favourites in Belgium.
