Gustavo Maia and Sao Paulo announced that the young player is going to Barcelona for 4.5 million euros and the move was highly criticized, mainly by those who have not seen the Brazilian in action.
Although Barcelona has not yet confirmed his arrival, the transfer is all but ocnfirmed. Xavier Vilajoana, the person responsible for Barcelona's formative football, compared his arrival to Kubo's departure.
Barcelona were forced to transfer him to Japan because of FIFA's sanction, and the plan was to buy him back, but the player ended up rejecting the offer and went away to Real Madrid.
"Kubo was asking for much more than the 4.5 million that Gustavo Maia will cost, certain obligations, duration and salary," explained the manager in 'Catalunya Ràdio'.
