Gundogan tempted by Turkish league after rumours of Barcelona exit

Ilkay Gundogan has only been at Barcelona for one season and is likely to leave before the summer transfer window closes. A few days ago, it emerged that he had asked to leave after a conversation with his coach Hansi Flick, in which the coach acknowledged that he did not see him getting as much playing time as he did last season.

According to Spanish outlet ‘Sport’, Galatasaray have started negotiations to find out the feasibility of signing him. The Turkish directors only contemplate his arrival as a free agent and Barcelona are not close to it, as they would save his salary, which is one of the highest in the squad.

His absence from the squad for the first La Liga game was a clear reflection of his current situation. Gundogan has always been attracted by the idea of playing for Galatasaray, but he did not expect it to be so soon.
