Guerreiro tests positive for COVID-19

Borussia Dortmund have confirmed via an official statement that Raphael Geurreiro has tested positve for COVID-19. The left midfielder is now self-isolating and will therefore be unavailable for the league clash this weekend.

COVID-19 continues to impact the world of sport and society in general. Despite the success of the vaccination considerably reducing cases and hospitalisations, many elite sportsmen and women continue to test positive for the virus.

The most recent name on this long list of positives is that of Raphael Guerreiro. Dortmund have confirmed this via an official communication. Also, Mats Hummels is awaiting the result of a test after being in close contact with the Portuguese player.

"Raphaël Guerreiro tested positive for COVID on Tuesday. Mats Hummels, who had previously gone into isolation due to cold-like symptoms, is waiting for his test results", read the message.

The Portuguese is a key figure in Marco Rose's team. He has appeared in 21 matches so far this season, and has started the majority of them. He has scored five goals and made three assists. Nevertheless, he will be totally ruled out for the league meeting this weekend with Arminia Bielefeld.
