Guardiola hails Gvardiol’s versatility as centre-back option for Man City

Pep Guardiola confirmed that Josko Gvardiol's recent performances at centre-back have given Manchester City a valuable option for the future. “I like him there. Especially the build up with the left. He’s so fast going in behind,” Guardiola said.
The Croatian defender, who has played mainly at left-back since joining City, has excelled in the centre of defence during a period of injury, forming an effective partnership with Ruben Dias. “Him and Ruben talk a lot and they are doing a really good partnership. It’s an option,” Guardiola added.
In Gvardiol's last four games in the centre of defence, City have conceded just two goals and kept three clean sheets, underlining his impact.
Guardiola also stressed the importance of versatility. “I don’t think the club needs central defenders, we have a lot and we bought two young ones. Important to have a player that can play there and left back”.
With other defenders expected to return, Guardiola's comments suggest that City will continue to rely on Gvardiol's adaptability rather than seek new signings in that position.
