The saga regarding Griezmann's future continues to rage on. Everything points towards the Frenchman being the main candidate to leave the club to alleviate enough of their wage bill to be able to finally renew Leo Messi's contract.
However, according to the story from 'Sport' on their frontpage, if the Frenchman doesn't manage to convince the Barca directive to stay in the team, he would be more than clear on his next destination - Atletico Madrid.
This means that if those in the Spanish capital are unable to reach an agreement, Griezmann will stay at the Camp Nou. Therefore, all the other rumours would be automatically ruled out, putting Barca in a bit of a predicament.
The Frenchman joined up with the team's pre-season training led by Ronald Koeman and remains well away from all the outside noise regarding his departure. The forward could even feature in Barca's next warm-up match against Girona.
The ball is in Atletico's court, although they're not going to drive themselves crazy over securing Griezmann's signing. President Enrique Cerezo himself confirmed that there had been no negotiation whatsoever between Saul and Griezmann.
However, it's well known the relationship that the Frenchman had with Atleti boss Diego Simeone, which would be a key factor in securing his return. Either way, Barca's number 7 appears to have made it clear to the club what his interests are, and there's no doubt that one of them would be a return to the Spanish capital.
