Garnacho RETURNS to United squad as Rashford's absence continues

Alejandro Garnacho has been reinstated to Manchester United's matchday squad for their Carabao Cup quarter-final clash with Tottenham Hotspur, following his omission from the Manchester derby. The Argentine's return comes as a positive sign after manager Ruben Amorim praised his training performance, stating, "He is prepared to play the game, I really like the way he trained. It's one more option for the offence"

However, Marcus Rashford's absence continues to raise eyebrows, with the English forward left out of the travelling squad for the second consecutive match. This decision follows Rashford's recent comments expressing readiness for a "new challenge", which have fueled speculation about his future at Old Trafford.  

“Why Marcus Rashford out? Selection. I chose the players I felt was ready to cope with the demands of playing a strong game”. United's attacking lineup for the match sees Bruno Fernandes and Antony starting in the No 10 positions, supporting in-form striker Rasmus Hojlund. 

Amorim's selection decisions reflect his emphasis on training performance and overall conduct, as he previously stated, "Everything is important in our context in the beginning of something when we want to change a lot of things".

As United aim to progress in the Carabao Cup, the contrasting fortunes of Garnacho and Rashford highlight the ongoing changes and challenges within the squad under Amorim's management.
