Argentinian Gabriel Heinze has taken over the reins at Atlanta United from Dutchman Frank de Boer. De Boer was sacked by the board and they want Heinze to do a similar job to what his compatrioy Gerardo Martino did for the club.
'Tata' Martino, currently the Mexico coach, took charge of the MLS club in its first two years of existence and led to the title in 2018.
Heinze, the former Velez Sarsfield coach, joins a club which have had their worst season in history, first with De Boer and then with Scotsman Stephen Glass as caretaker.
The former Real Madrid and Man Utd footballer, 42, was one of Marcelo Bielsa's assistants at Leeds United. That is his only coaching experience up to now.
It is not known who will form part of his coaching team or which players he is thinking of bringing in, but the 42 year-old boss is one of the main attractions in the MLS next season.
