'For me, there was only one club' - Van Dijk opens up on Liverpool renewal

Virgil van Dijk's future at Liverpool was one of the biggest uncertainties at the club alongside that of Mohamed Salah, although both Reds stars eventually signed new contracts until 2027.
Indeed, in the months before it was confirmed that the Dutch centre-back had extended his commitment to Arne Slot's side, there were several rumours that he could be in talks with other clubs such as Real Madrid.
However, the Netherlands international was keen to deny these rumours, stressing that he was in talks with the Reds until last month and that he never had any doubts about wanting to extend his legacy at Anfield.
"I’ve heard so many things that I signed, I didn’t sign or that I was in contact with so many clubs... I was in negotiations up until the last month and we found a way. For me, there was only one club. That was Liverpool," he said.
