Infantino has ended the ongoing confrontation betweeen Luis Rubiales of the Spanish Football Federation and La Liga chief Tebas over the Girona-Barcelona fixture. The match will not be played in the United States, in spite of the wishes of the La Liga president.
Finally, it has been decided that the clash will take place in Spain. Weeks of disputes between La Liga and the Spanish Football Federation have been terminated with the declaration of Infantino, the current president of world football governing body FIFA.
"I directly oppose and deny permission for Girona-Barcelona to take place in Miami", said the chief of FIFA. It seems that the dream of La Liga chief Tebas is simply not to be.
The FIFA president, on the other hand, also assured that the council had debated the issue at their meeting on Friday, and the opinion of the proposal is very clear.
"Having listened to the opinion of the Stakeholder's committee, the council debated it and emphasised the sporting principal that official league matches must be played within the respective territory of the federation, and the council is totally clear on this", said Infantino.
