Fernandez rejects move to Atletico despite efforts from Argentina teammates

Fernandez, who joined Chelsea in 2023 for a British record fee of £106.8 million, signed a long-term contract that runs until 2031. Despite this commitment, his impressive form this season has sparked interest from top clubs in Spain, including both Atletico Madrid and their rivals, Real Madrid.
According to reports, the 24-year-old has been actively encouraged by five of his Argentina teammates, all of whom play for Atletico, to make the switch to the Spanish capital.
Rodrigo de Paul, Nahuel Molina, Julian Alvarez, Angel Correa and Giuliano Simeone were tasked with persuading him to leave Chelsea and join Atletico.
However, it seems their efforts have fallen short, with the No.8 reportedly rejecting the idea of a move to Spain. Nevertheless, the player is said to be "keeping his options open" regarding his future.
Having started 17 of the Blues' last 18 Premier League matches, he has solidified his place in the team under manager Maresca, with Chelsea pushing for a top-four finish in the league.
