Various media outlets inform that Marius Zaliukas, who was fighting against an illness, has passed away at the age of 36. He played for FBK Kaunas, Heart of Midlothian, Rangers, and Zalgiris Vilnius. He was also capped by his country.

Marius Zaliukas lost his battle against the long illness he was fighting. Various media outlets from his country informed of the news. He was only 36 and three years ago he was still playing football for Zalgiris Vilnius.

This defender's career was not off the radar at all. He became an international with his national team and played for some of the biggest clubs in the Scottish League, such as Rangers, and Leeds United, who are currently shining in England.

In fact, many of the sides that he played for shared messages of affection for his family and loved ones on social media. Lithuanian, Scottish, and English football is in mourning. He played 294 matches and scored 19 goals.

"Rangers is tonight shocked and saddened to hear of the death of former player Marius Zaliukas at the age of just 36. The thoughts of the directors, management and players of Rangers are with Marius’ family at this sad and difficult time", Rangers said.
