The Chelsea striker was left out of Vicente del Bosque's latest squad and chose to spend the international break in his hometown in Brazil instead

The controversial striker was left out of Spain's squad for their recent friendlies, with reports claiming the Spanish coach has been 'put off' by Costa's buoyant nature on the pitch.

However, Del Bosque claimed he was left out because he wasn't 100% fit following a knock picked up whilst playing for Chelsea.

Costa headed back to home Lagarto City, the Brazilian municipality where he was born, and took to social media to post a photo with family and friends.

Costa's replacement Aritz Aduriz managed to bag a goal against Italy, and with his volatile nature, Costa's place in the squad for the summer championships could be undecided.
