Frenkie De Jong's start to the campaign has been nothing but short of perfect. Finding any kind of mistake in his playing is a task in itself.
Against Eibar, De Jong's decisiveness was on full display. He didn't play the whole game, but he gave a technique masterclass in the 79 minutes he spent on the pitch.
Perhaps thinking towards the approaching Champions League clash, Valverde chose to have him be replaced by Rakitic, but it now seems that the former Ajax player has won a place in the starting eleven.
It was not easy for the Dutchman. The Catalan club has other men for his position, and they're all bursting with talent: Arturo Vidal, Arthur, Busquets, Rakitic, Sergi Roberto or Aleñá are all midfielders.. All of them have taken much longer than he has to shine through, but De Jong has proved to have adapted wonderfully this season.
Valverde has the perfect midfielder in De Jong. The 'Txingurri' smiles every time the midfielder caresses the ball. Magic in its purest form.
