De Bruyne looking to prove Man City wrong with Napoli move

After a decade as Manchester City's statistical and spiritual leader, Kevin de Bruyne will start a new adventure with Napoli in the 2025-26 season. The veteran Belgian player accepted a last challenge in the Serie A champions, leaving aside other proposals perhaps more attractive financially and less demanding in sporting terms.
A decision that, according to ‘The Athletic’, had its origin in the player's competitive instinct. "It seemed that his future was in Chicago Fire, but the possibility of signing for a club as historic as Napoli, being able to play in the Champions League, being with a coach like Antonio Conte and the presence of other stars like Romelu Lukaku made the difference," says the media.
In this sense, the publication points out that De Bruyne would also keep a spirit of revenge towards Manchester City, wanting to have a great season in a top flight team to prove to his former team that they were wrong not to want to renew his contract.
With that fire burning inside him, Napoli will be able to enjoy a player who, at 33 years of age, also had interesting proposals from other teams in Europe, with Juventus and Galatasaray having shown interest in acquiring his services before his move to the Italian side was completed.
