Cristiano Ronaldo could miss Croatia game with infection

Cristiano Ronaldo is a doubt for Portugal's first Nations League match which will be against Croatia. The Portugal captain has a foot infection and did not train with the rest of his teammates two days before the clash. He is having antibiotics.
The Portuguese did do gym work though the day before the problem was detected. Ideally the coach would like him available for the clash because he is the team's most important player. He does not have long to recover, but he will try.
If he ends up missing the game, he will be very likely to be fit for the match with Sweden on 8th September. He should be fully fit for that match as it is a few days later.
A player who will definitely miss the international game is Renato Sanches. The Federation explained that he did not pass his medical prior to the international break and so he returned home. Several Portuguese media outlets say that he is injured.
