Cork earns first England call-up

England have been left with a squad of just 22 players for their upcoming friendlies against Germany and Brazil after Manchester City duo Raheem Sterling and Fabian Delph withdrew due to injury.

Dele Alli was already ruled out after missing Tottenham's game at the weekend, while team-mates Harry Kane and Harry Winks have joined Liverpool's Jordan Henderson in withdrawing from the squad.

Cork has been called up to add to the midfield ranks, and it is his first senior call-up after representing the Three Lions at all age groups, from U16 to U21.

The 28-year-old midfielder made the move to Turf Moor from Swansea in the summer, and he has played every minute so far for a Burnley side who sit in seventh place in the Premier League after an excellent start to the season.
