Atletico were desperat efor three points in their match against Malaga on Saturday, with the side looking to keep the pressure on league leaders Barcelona, so much so that Simeone resulted in using gamesmanship.
Atletico ended up winning the game 1-0 thanks to a second-half goal from Angel Correa, but the game was not without its controversies, when a Malaga counter-attack was halted when a ball was thrown in from the dugout.
Simeone was subsequently sent off for the action, but Duje Cop who was playing for Malaga claims he is not angry, as it wasn't an important game for Malaga.
"It happened at 0-0 in the first half, we had a counter attack and the ball went out," he told Goal.
"I ran over to throw it back in as soon as possible to continue our attack, but at the same time Simeone grabbed another ball and threw it, trying to hit the one I put back in play!
"At first I didn't realise what happened, but the referee ran to Simeone immediately and showed him a red card. But that means nothing to us, since we lost a great opportunity and eventually lost the match.
"I didn't confront Simeone, I am not the kind of guy who likes to argue and fight. Also, how am I suppose to shout at someone like Simeone?
"But there was some trouble because guys from our bench came after him..."
