Alarms go off at Inter Milan. Lukaku returned from Ukraine with a strain and his participation in the match against Real Madrid in the third round of the Champions League is more than doubtful.
The Belgian striker is suffering from a thigh injury that appeared after the match against Shakhtar Donetsk last Tuesday. 'La Gazzetta dello Sport' announced the news on Thursday afternoon and the Lombardy club itself shared the medical report shortly afterwards.
"Romelu Lukaku underwent an MRI at the Humanitas Institute in Rozzano after a problem found after the UEFA Champions League match against Shakhtar Donetsk," the club said in a statement.
In it, Inter revealed what type of injury the striker has: "Investigations revealed a muscle strain in the left hamstring". However, it did not offer a time period for recovery and only said that his condition will be evaluated "day by day".
For Madrid's visit to the Guiseppe Meazza only five days remain, so the Belgian will have to fight against the clock in his recovery to get to the match.
