The 2021-22 season has not yet come to an end, but the clubs are already taking the first steps towards next season. City have already announced what they will be wearing.
The club, with its new shirt, returns to the late 1960s. City reports on its website that the new shirt is "inspired by the fearless City teams of the late 1960s and one of its leaders and Club icon, Colin Bell, known as 'Colin the King".
The new jersey is simple: sky blue, the team's identifying colour, with details in maroon and white on the collar and sleeves. The crest, as in the late 60s and early 70s, is in the centre of the shirt and not on the chest as usual.
With this first kit for the 2022-23 season, City wanted to pay tribute to Bell, one of the club's greatest fan legends. The family of the City icon is delighted to know that the club have been inspired by him for this shirt. "We are thrilled that they wanted to pay tribute to my father. It's a lovely gesture," said his son Jon Bell.
