Benzema and Casemiro were the reason why Real Madrid scored the first goal at Espanyol. It was a high quality move. The Frenchman made the goal with a superb heel flick which is proof he is sensational.
Zidane's men had already threatened on a few occasions before that and they were the better team. Just before that, Diego Lopez had made a superb save to keep it 0-0, but Benzema's moment of magic broke the deadlock.
To make things worse for Espanyol, the goal came just before half-time. It meant Zidane could change his strategy at half-time and be much more relaxed ahead of the second period.
But not only that: this goal is key in the race for the La Liga title: After Barcelona's draw against Celta Vigo, Real Madrid had a great opportunity to go two points clear at the top with a win and that is what they look like doing.
