After Conte's announcement that he would be stepping down as Italy boss this summer, former Italy captain Fabio Cannavaro, who notched up 136 caps for the side, during which he lifted the World Cup, has revealed his desire to become Conte's successor.
"I would love to become the national team coach," Cannavaro told Sky Italia.
"I am aware that it is a tough job, but I spent 15 years with Italy. In my opinion, I have the right experience for this role and I know the environment very well too."
However, Cannavaro doesn't have much managerial experience, so the Italian job may be a step too far the former Ballon d'Or winner this summer, however it would be no shock to see him as the manager in the future.
