The Argentinean Giovanni Simeone, forward of Cagliari and son of the coach of Atlético Madrid, has tested positive for coronavirus in the latest round of PCR tests carried out by the club and has been isolated in accordance with the health protocol of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC).
"Cagliari Calcio communicates that in the latest round of tests carried out at the club there was a positive result for coronavirus Giovanni Simeone: the footballer has been isolated as is protocol by the ministerial and federal regulations", read the official communication of the Sardinian club.
"All the other members of the team have tested negative and will start the isolation with the possibility for the athletes to take part in regular training and match activity", it is added.
Diego Pablo Simeone's son is Cagliari's top scorer in Serie A with five goals, tied with Brazilian Joao Pedro. He will now have to carry out the corresponding quarantine.
His team is in eleventh position in the league, with three wins, one draw and four losses in eight rounds.
