Bayern Munich have completed the signing of Lucas Hernandez from Atletico Madrid for a fee of €80million. Hernandez will arrive on a 5 year deal at the start of the summer transfer window, keeping him in Munich till 2024.
The 23 year old has been a mainstay at Atletico Madrid this season, and will be a difficult player to replace. He has been at Atletico since 2007. He has played 14 times in La Liga this season for the Madrid club, scoring 1 goal.

"Lucas Hernandez will move from Atlético de Madrid to Bayern on 1 July 2019. This is what both clubs and Lucas Hernandez have agreed. The 23-year-old defender receives a five-year contract, until June 30, 2024, for a transfer of 80 million euros," a Bayern statement read.
Hasan Salihamidzic. Bayern's sporting director, showed his happiness at the deal being completed: "I am very happy that we have signed one of the best defenders in the world. Lucas can be used, either centrally or on the left hand side. He will continue our tradition of strong Frenchmen and will strengthen our team."
Bayern revealed that Lucas has a ligament tear in his right knee that will need to be surgically repaired, but they also believe that he will be fully fit for the start of the 2019-2020 Bundesliga season.
Hernandez expressed his excitement at joining Bayern "It's an important day in my footballing career. Bayern is one of the best teams in the world. I am proud to be able to fight for the titles that Bayern can" But Hernandez did also express his gratitude to Atletico "I would like to say thank you to Atletico, to the club, the coaches, the players, and the supporters during my fantastic 12 years at this football club. Atletico will always be a part of me. Now I am happy to finish the season".
