Borussia sign Schlotterbeck for their defence

German international Nico Schlotterbeck has reached an agreement with Borussia Dortmund for next season, according to reports in the 'Bild' newspaper.

The defender, who currently plays for Freiburg, would be the German side's second defensive reinforcement after Süle, who will join from Bayern on a free transfer.

The 22-year-old has been one of the great revelations of recent seasons in Germany. This is what has led him to make his debut for the national team.

'Bild' reported that Borussia Dortmund would pay Freiburg around 25 million euros for the transfer.

Freiburg is currently in contention for European competition and even Champions League qualification is within the realms of possibility.

Ajax's Noussair Mazraoui is strongly mentioned as a candidate, and some media outlet consider his signing to be imminent.
