On the stroke of half-time on Saturday, Sergio Ramos lost concentration and allowed Levante through to tie up the game at 1-1. Keylor Navas saved from Morales, but the rebound fell to Boateng in front of an almost empty goal.
Boateng has not been convincing enough for his manager Juan Muñiz, so much so he was looking for a way out of Levante in January. They were not able to find him a club and he will remain at least until the summer.
It was, in fact, his first goal of the season. He couldn't have chosen a better time or a better team to do it against. Boateng was alert to the rebound from the shot saved by Navas. Jose Luis Morales had everything how he'd want it in a one-on-one against the Costa Rican, but Navas had the beating of him this time.
The loose ball fell to Boateng who took it first time without thinking, slotting into the far corner past Sergio Ramos.
