At the end of last year, after an epic comeback from the La Liga side against Liverpool in the Champions League, it was made known that Berizzo was suffering from prostate cancer. The coach stepped aside and allowed assistant Ernesto Marcucci to take over the reigns as he began treatment.
However, the 48-year-old returned quickly showing his squad true professionalism although it would eventually lead to his dismissal after a disappointing run of results with Vincenzo Montella taking over permanently, much to the uproar of fans.
It did allow Berizzo to concentrate on getting better with his battle against the disease allegedly coming to an end this February and hopes to make a comeback of his own to a dugout.
From everyone at 'BeSoccer' we are delighted to hear about recovery of the Argentine coach and wish him all the best in the future, in whatever he ends up doing.
