Bayern got rid of Mane because he was African, claims agent

Sadio Mane's departure from Bayern Munich did not come as a shock to most people. After just one season in the Bundesliga, the Sengalese winger has joined Cristiano Ronaldo at Saudi side Al-Nassr, closing a short but highly underwhelming chapter on the continent.

Although Mane told the media recently he wished for a different ending with the club, and left wishing "the club and the fans the best for the future", one of his agents has come out claiming that the feelings were not mutual.

Bacary Cisse, the winger's PR manager, has claimed that Bayern's main reasons for getting rid of him had nothing to do with football, rather that they were unhappy to be paying an African player such high wages.

"It wasn't a footballing decision (to sell him)," Cisse told 'After Foot RMC'. "Sadio's salary bothered the Germans, they didn't understand how an African joins the club and becomes the top earner ahead of everyone, so they wanted to get rid of him".

"Sadio has nothing to prove to the Germans. He didn't become what he's become thanks to Bayern. It was thanks to Liverpool. Bayern were ungrateful. They were paying an African all this money, and that hurt them", he continued.

Cisse also alleges that the Germans were unprofessional from the get-go - over his salary all the way up to how they conveyed they wanted him out of the club: "Sadio didn't steal his money. From the first meeting with Bayern, he gave them his word that he would join, without talking about the salary. His representatives negotiated that salary for him".

"They never called the player's representatives (when they wanted him to leave). They never told Sadio face-to-face that they wanted to get rid of him. They just sent (Thomas) Tuchel to tell him that he will be a third choice left winger", declared the agent.
