Bayern appoint Salihamidzic new director

Bosnian Hasan Salihamidzic, who won six Bundesliga titles with Bayern Munich during his playing career, has been named the club's new sporting director.

The Bundesliga side have announced the appointment of former midfielder Hasan Salihamidzic as their new sporting director on a contract until 2020.

The Bosnian made 365 competitive appearances for Bayern, the most of any foreign player in the club's history.

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said that: "In Hasan, we have someone that knows Bayern very well.

"He has been there through the highs and the lows. He has the trus of the players, the board and the fans."

Salihamidzic was delighted with the appointment, telling the Bayern website: "I gave everything in every training & every game. That's exactly how I will fulfill my job as sporting director. I'm delighted."
