Josep Maria Bartomeu revealed on Thursday that there is an ongoing negotiation for Antoine Griezmann, who's termination clause is currently valued at 120 million euros after a drop in price on July 1. The transfer is getting increasingly difficult because of the controversy surrounding the star player and his current price, which Atletico Madrid have stated is "unnegotiable".
The official dates for his presentation, or even a confirmation of his signing, have yet to be announced. This has surprised a few since the drop in price was the green light Barcelona was requiring in order to go for his signing.
Meanwhile, Griezmann is still on holiday and has not come back to training, even though he must be aware that his 30 days of holiday, as negotiated with AFE, are over soon.
According to the newspaper 'AS', the striker is still at the top of Barcelona's wish list this transfer window, as Bartomeu confirmed in a press conference, which triggered a negative reaction by Atletico Madrid, who accused the player and the Catalan club of "lacking respect".
The source clarified that Barcelona intends to announce the Frenchman's arrival on Wednesday 10 July, while the presentation would not be until Friday 12. Griezmann's presentation would be as grand as De Jong's and would have practically the same schedules.
Thus, the club works to reach an agreement as soon as possible with Atletico and the footballer to end the controversy after the presentation of goalkeeper Neto.
