Georginio Wijnaldum has been wanted by Ronald Koeman ever since he took over as Barca coach. The financial issues at the club meant they were unable to get him in the summer, but Barca's plan is to complete the signing in January.
Let us remember that Wijnaldum's contract expires on 30th June 2021 so they can reach a pre-agreement with any club from January. If Liverpool are not able to renew him and they do not want him to go for nothing, they can sell the playr in January at a reduced price.
The 30 year-old is a midfielder who is very well known across Europe because of the five years he has been at Liverpool so far. He is about to make 200 appearances for the Reds. Getting Wijnaldum would be a great purchase and unsurprisingly, Barca are not the only ones interested.
In fact, this week, 'Il Corriere dello Sport' says that two huge European clubs are after Georginio Wijnaldum. They are Real Madrid and Inter Milan.
The report also says that both clubs are willing to put a contract on the table which would begin in the summer as a free agent because signing him in January seems more complicated.
And getting the player in January is exactly what Barca want. Ronald Koeman once again asked the Barca board to sign the player weeks ago, but the current acting heads do not have the power to negotiate signings.
