Arsenal fell just short of a third successive 2023/2024 Premier League win yesterday. Despite managing to complete a second-half comeback with goals from Saka and Nketiah, a late equaliser from Palhinha earned Fulham a draw at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners were stunned in the first half by the Cottagers so Arteta made changes in the second half that turned the game around. Nketiah and Vieira were the two substitutes who gave Arsenal a breath of fresh air.
The Portuguese midfielder won the penalty for the home side that led to Arteta's side's equaliser. Just three minutes later, the former Porto man put in a pinpoint cross into the six-yard box for Nketiah to turn the result around.
Arteta was asked what he thought of the performances of the players who came off the bench, and the Spanish coach blamed himself for their lack of playing time as he praised them: "All three substitutes changed the game. Fabio was involved in everything we created and I am really happy with that. To see players with the ability to make and take chances with quality.
"The same with Eddie. It is my fault that Fabio has not played more and today he gave me reasons to play him more," concluded the Spanish coach.
