Switzerland have announced their 26-man squad for Qatar, where they are placed in group G alongside Brazil, Serbia and Cameroon.
There are few changes compared to recent years. Granit Xhaka in midfield and Xerdan Shaqiri in attack will once again take the lead.
Denis Zakaria, recently recovered from a long injury, and Breel Embolo, who has performed well for Borussia Monchengladbach and Monaco in recent years, are also in Switzerland's list.
Manuel Akanji, who has taken a step forward this year by moving to Manchester City, will be in defence.
This is Switzerland's 26-man squad list:
Goalkeepers: Gregor Kobel, Philipp Kohn, Jonas Omlin and Yann Sommer.
Defenders: Manuel Akanji, Eray Comert, Nico Elvedi, Ricardo Rodriguez, Fabian Schar and Silvan Widmer.
Midfielders: Michel Aebischer, Christian Fassnacht, Edimilson Fernandes, Fabian Frei, Remo Freuler, Ardon Jashari, Fabian Rieder, Djibril Sow, Granit Xhaka and Denis Zakaria.
Forwards: Breel Embolo, Noah Okafor, Hans Seferovic, Xerdan Shaqiri, Renato Steffen, and Ruben Vargas.
