Anti-violence proposes a fine of 65,000 euros and the closure of the Metropolitano for two weeks

The anti-violence commission on Tuesday proposed the complete closure of Atletico Madrid's stadium for two weeks and fined the club 65,000 euros for the incidents that took place in the eighth league derby against Real Madrid on 29 September, the Consejo Superior de Deportes (CSD) confirmed.

Anti-violence agreed on the fine and the closure of the stadium as an accessory measure, after taking into account all the facts, including the throwing of objects at Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, as well as the presence of Nazi symbols and flags with Frente Atletico symbology in the stands, the invasion of the pitch and the detection of a knife considered dangerous carried by a fan.

To date, six of the spectators involved in the incidents, for which the match was temporarily suspended for about 17 minutes, have been identified and 20 are in the process of being identified.

For these events, Atletico Madrid was sanctioned by the Disciplinary Committee of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) with three matches of partial closure of the south end of its stadium (for the upcoming matches against Leganes, Las Palmas and Alaves). The club has appealed the sanction to the Appeals Committee.
