Barely 15 minutes had passed in the Champions League final when Timo Werner had three chances to put Chelsea in front. Two of them were absolute golden opportunities, which the German missed in spectacular fashion to keep the score 0-0.

This Saturday's match at the Do Dragao burst into life. City and Chelsea started their battle for the Champions League trophy in an electrifying and vibrant manner. This was great news for the neutral, but not so great for the supporters of either side as their heart rates undoubtedly went through the roof in the opening stages!

Timo Werner started the match despite his unfortunate time in front of goal of late - poor form that didn't show any signs of stopping in the final. The German failed his first chance in a pass that gave him a clear sight at goal. Instead of connecting with the ball, the player completely missed his shot and the ball fired in the opposite direction.

In a play almost identical to the last, the striker faltered once more against Ederson. Another assist played in the German free to shoot inside the box, but his tame shot trickled into the hands of the City goalkeeper. Two clear sights at goal.

He then had a third opportunity which was slightly less clear than the other two, but still a decent chance at opening the scoring nonetheless. In a good bit of build up play that showed his pace and skill, his end product could only find the side netting.
