Umar Sadiq and Lassana Coulibaly could be close to a move to the Ibrox, if the double loan move goes through.

Rangers are close to tying up a loan agreement with French side Angers to bring in the 22-year-old Coulibaly.

The striker could also be joined by Nigerian Umar Sadiq, dependent on the award of work permits.

Sadiq would add some attacking strength to the Rangers side, with his 6ft 3in stature giving him the advantage in the box.

The Scottish FA will hear the appeal for work permits, as the two players do not automatically qualify under the criteria.

However, according to the 'Daily Mail' it is highly likely that the Scottish FA will give them the green light.

Gerrard is looking for more depth in his squad, and will be hoping to create a new more aggressive mentality.

Speaking about Sadiq, Gerrard said: "He would bring us a forward option. He has good height, power and presence on the pitch."

Sadiq has scored four goals in six caps for Nigerian's Under-23s side and would add height and strength to the Rangers attack.

"He's very enthusiastic. He's the type of player who gives you just as much out of possession as he does in possession which is very important."
