The striker has played for the likes of Arsenal, Juventus and Wolfsburg over his career but returned to play in his native Denmark last season.
In his first half season with Rosenburg, he scored three goals as the club claimed the Norweigan title.
He was not called up to Denmark squad during the international break, and 'Sky Sports' report that he was arrested on Sunday morning in the nation's capital, Copenhagen.
It is alleged that the striker was involved in an altercation with a taxi driver that the driver had been sent to hospital for a broken jaw.
Danish police confirmed that several such incidents ocurred in the city, but would not comment on individual cases.
