Joao Cancelo once again had a brilliant game for Man City in the victory over Newcastle. After the match, Pep Guardiola showered praise on the Portuguese even though he asked him to concentrate a bit more on the pitch.
Man City beat Newcastle 2-0 on Boxing Day in a match which saw Joao Cancelo have a tremendous game.
The Portuguese's performance was so good that Pep Guardiola himself gave him plenty of praise afterwards: "At the beginning, when he arrived, it wasn't easy for all of us, neither for him or for me. But now we understand a lot of things."
"He's a player with lots of quality, His regeneration, physicality is incredible. He could play again tomorrow," Guardiola said about the former Valencia and Juventus man.
That said, the City boss also highlighted an area the 26 year-old right back needs to work on: "You always have to be concentrating when in the back line, but sometimes he gets distracted which is dangerous for a defender."
Finally, he highlighted all of Cancelo's qualities: "He has incredible quality. He's got bravery. Sometimes I ask him to play in positions different to those he's used to playing in. In the second part, especially at the side of his friend Bernardo, he was very good."
