The flying full-back teed up Eden Hazard to score Chelsea's second goal of the game in a 2-0 victory over Bournemouth, with Sarri hailing his contribution following the game.
"Alonso I think at the moment in this position, left-back, he is maybe the best in Europe," the Italian insisted after the match.
"Physical qualities at top level, I think. He's doing very well in the offensive phase. I also think he can improve in the defensive phase. He could be the best left-back in the world."
Alonso has gained a reputation for being one of the best wing-backs in European football following his performances under Antonio Conte, but has shown his adaptability this season after Sarri's arrival marked a switch to a more traditional back four.
