Almeria-Cordoba clash suspended due to red alert for heavy rains

The clash between Almeria and Cordoba in matchday 13 of La Liga 2 was set to kick off at 16:15 CET on Sunday at the Estadio de los Juegos Mediterraneos. However, the Spanish football federation (RFEF) have announced the decision to call off the game on the same day due to a red alert for heavy rains in the region.

"The Spanish Football Federation, following a request from La Liga and coordination with the clubs, has decided to postpone the UD Almeria-Cordoba CF Second Division match that was due to be played on Sunday the 3rd of November following the AEMET's red alert warning for today due to torrential rain in the province of Almeria," the RFEF informed.

In the same statement, the RFEF further add: "the decision taken as a precautionary measure to avoid displacement in the wake of the situation suffered in Spain by the DANA, resulting in numerous victims and casualties". The capital of Almeria has been given a yellow warning, while the regions on Valle del Almanzora, Los Velez, Levante, Nacimiento and Campo de Taberna are all in the red zone for heavy rains and precipitations until 18:00 CET, though it could be for longer. 

Numerous Cordoba fans had already made their way to Almeria to watch the game and support their club. But due to the suspension, they will now have to return to their home city to avoid the possible heavy rains. The decision from the RFEF has been taken following the devastating floods that have hit Spain, specifically the Valencia region, as the DANA that swept through the province last Tuesday and took away with it the lives of more than 200 people.
