This 2023 has been a misfortune for Neymar. The Brazilian, who left PSG for Al Hilal this summer, has only been able to make five appearances for the Saudis due to ongoing injury problems. First it was a femoral biceps injury and recently it was a cruciate and meniscus tear.
Almost a month ago, the player from Mogi das Cruzes was injured in the match against Uruguay and will not be back on the pitch until well into 2024. The striker underwent surgery on Thursday 2 November and has already begun his recovery process.
Juan Jimenez, head of Al Hilal's medical department, spoke to the club's channels and assured that he is in constant contact with Neymar: "We are in constant communication both with his therapist and with the player. He's in Brazil working hard every day trying to increase the mobility in his knee and also the strength of the injured leg. This phase of the proccess will take at least two months."
"From approximately January onwards, we will be able to make progress in other aspects. He is doing a lot of work, but the key thing at the moment is increasing mobility in his knee and gaining strength in his leg. As well as that, of course, he is doing strength and conditioning work," Jimenez said.
Rodrigo Lasmar, who is in charge of Neymar's surgery, said that we should be cautious and that he should not be in a hurry: "So far he has responded very well. I was with him recently and we did a new post-op. He has to go through a slow recovery process and he is aware of that".
