"What is my secret? You have to win games one at a time," the Frenchman said in an interview with France Football magazine.
"Hard work without talent is not enough though.
"My lucky star has always been there, shining above my head, even when things do not go so well.
"That is why I always keep positive, although normally I have an appearance of seriousness."
The Real Madrid and France legend also explained his approach to managing the personalities of the various superstars in the locker room of the 'Blancos'.
"What I am trying to transmit is that everybody is important," Zidane said.
"The players perform well because they are committed in the context of a great collective energy and they compliment each other very well in the dressing room."
