Diego Alves, the Valencia goalkeeper, is truly an expert when it comes to stopping penalties. The Brazilian keeper has excelled in this aspect since arriving in La Liga, and has an excellent record for Almeria and current club Valencia.
The goalkeeper has saved 25 of the 51 penalties taken against him, as he boasts an impressive 49% success rate. In his personal duel with Ronaldo, the keeper has come out on top 3 times out of 4, giving him a 75% success rate.
The 31-year-old has often stated that his priority is what the team does: 'I don't care about the penalty saves, I always say when penalties saves help the team win I’m happy, but I'm not when we lose'.
