The veteran midfielder has now started Barca's last six games as he continues his return from the dead.
A combination of injuries and not seeing eye-to-eye with the manager saw Iniesta limited to just 13 starts in La Liga last season, with the player having already started five this campaign and we're not even into October yet.
The Spanish international has successfully become one of the first names on manager Ernesto Valverde's teamsheet and is the player with the 10th most minutes played so far this term. That figure could well have been higher, had the 33-year-old not missed two games through injury earlier in the season.
Against Girona on Saturday, Iniesta player a notably more defnesive role than he has done in recent years. One would have to look back to the Frank Rijkaard era to see the last time that the playmaker was found in such a defensive role.
The classy playmaker dictated Barca's play as we have become accustomed to in the Catalan derby, but also shone when it came to recovering the ball.
The key to his impressive form under Valverde could be down the the manager's decision to substitute the veteran late on in every game. The former Athletic Bilbao boss sees this as the best way to ensure that Iniesta does not burn out, rather than simply placing him on the bench and the player has certainly responded so far.
Iniesta has played 504 minutes of football so far this season with only Sergi Roberto (518), Luis Suárez (540), Gerard Piqué (590), Sergio Busquets (701), Jordi Alba (705), Ivan Rakitic (712), Samuel Umtiti (720), Marc-Andre Ter Stegen (810) and Lionel Messi (810) having played more.
But away from facts and figures, Iniesta's performances are making the Barcelona faithful happier than ever at the moment. Long may it continue.
