The end
After a goalless first half, City switched gears to score three goals in the second forty-five minutes. Captain Kompany broke the deadlock with a header and Sane scored the second as the Saints pushed for an equaliser. Aguero scored the third to certify victory for Guardiola's men at St Mary's.

It is all level at St Mary's with no goals coming in forty-five minutes of few chances. Aguero has looked lively and provided the cross for Silva in what was probably the clearest chance of the half, but the Spaniard fired wide. There were claims for a penalty after Sane went down in the box, but Guardiola will hope for more in the final third for City, after they have moved the ball around well in other areas.
