Often comparisons are odious, but after Madrid’s humiliating 4-0 defeat to Barcelona at the weekend, critics have been searching every corner as to what went wrong. Madrid’s BBC failed to score, while Barca’s MSN was incredibly successful.
Messi, Suarez and Neymar have so far scored 32 goals between them in all competitions. Madrid’s BBC however has only managed 22, 10 less than La Liga leaders. What’s especially worrying is Cristiano’s lack of confidence infant of goal this season, something that we’re not used to.
In La Liga, CR7 has managed eight goals in 12 games for Madrid (five against: Espanyol, one against: Levante, Celta and Las Palmas).
Ronaldo has enjoyed partial success, scoring a hat-trick against Shakhtar and two against Malmö. Until now, Madrid could rely on their star striker to consistantly perform however his poor form have meant BBC’s numbers have dropped massively.
There have been growing rumors that Ronaldo is unhappy with the way Benitez is running things, and he has even been said to give an ultimatum to Florentino, who will have to decide between the two.
While it’s clear to see the troubles Ronaldo is having on the field, the worst performing player statistically is Bale. The Welsh winger has played seven La Liga games, and one Champions League, but only has two goals to his name (both against Betis).
Between injuries and poor performances, Benzema and Bale aren’t living up to expectations. The goals that French striker was feeding Madrid have all but dried up after his most recent injury.
Benzene has managed six goals in La Liga and one in the Champions League in seven matches.
The deadly precision and accuracy that has seen Real Madrid’s striking force amass over 180 goals for the club seems a distant memory. This is the first real crisis for Banitez, and the Spanish media are already calling for his head.
An even more worrying statistic is that Messi who has been out injured for the last two months, has scored one more goal than Bale. Neymar and Suarez have more than made up for Messi’s absence and each have 14 goals to their name
