It has been speculated for some weeks that the Ibrahimovic will come out of international retirement to play at the finals in Russia, where Sweden begin their campaign against South Korea in Nizhny Novgorod on June 18.
The LA Galaxy star was a guest on ABC's 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' and all but dispelled rumours about whether he'd join his native Sweden at the World Cup or not. Grinning, the self-declared lion said: "I’m going to the World Cup, yes."
“I just said I’m going to the World Cup. If I say more, people will hang me so I have to be careful what I say now," he continued.
“A World Cup without me wouldn’t be a World Cup,” he then added in typical Zlatan fashion.
Zlatan made a splash stateside when he scored a screamer on his debut in a stunning match-winning performance. Despite not featuring in Sweden's qualifying campaign, Ibra now looks set to join up with his country for the competition in Russia. Whether his role will be a playing role or a coaching role remains to be told.
