Xavi Hernandez asks for a meeting to continue as Barcelona coach

On 27th January 2024, in the midst of Barcelona's run of poor results, Xavi Hernandez made a surprise announcement that he would not continue at the club next season. A decision, after losing to Villarreal, that caught the whole club and its staff off guard.

Since then, the coach has been asked on many occasions if he was sure of his decision, to which he replied that he was. But everything has changed in recent weeks.

'Mundo Deportivo' and 'RAC-1' assure that the coach has asked Joan Laporta and Deco, president and sporting director of Barcelona, for a meeting to discuss his future.

Xavi, according to the aforementioned sources, wants guarantees that he will be able to strengthen the squad as he wishes in order to stay on the bench.

This is the wish of Joan Laporta, who has reiterated, both publicly and privately, that he wants Xavi Hernandez to continue as Barcelona coach in the 2024-25 season.

The names that have been mentioned the most to reinforce the squad are Dani Olmo, star at RB Leipzig, and Guido Rodriguez, who is finishing his contract with Betis.
