With four former Premier League players, is this the best Sunday League side ever? 

According to the 'Birmingham Mail', Birmingham-based Monica Star FC can count on some four players with Premier League experience, all of which were full internationals.

Remarkably, the club are only third in the league, though they are currently looking forward to a final date in the Birmingham FA's Veterans Cup.

Former England international Lee Hendrie is perhaps the most recognisable face, with the 40-year-old having earned a solitary England cap to go with his 251 Premier League outings with Aston Villa, in what incredibly was considered a career which failed to live up to its potential.

The most experienced international in Monica Star's ranks is 44-year-old Lee Carsley, who earned 40 caps for the Republic of Ireland and made 261 Premier League appearances across spells with Derby County, Blackburn, Coventry, Everton and Birmingham.

At 46, former Scotland international Paul Devlin is the oldest of the former pros on display at Monica Star, whilst former Jamaica international Darren Byfield completes the list.

The club will be looking for their fifth Veterans Cup win in six season when they face Sutton Coldfield Town in Sunday's final.
